This workshop is focussed on methodologies in sociolinguistic data collection. It is aimed specifically at providing starting PhD students with the opportunity to both learn from recent fieldwork techniques used by fellow and more senior linguists in both variationist linguistics and discourse studies, and present their own data collection plans for peer review. It will be small-scale, allowing for personalised feedback.
January 2021 update: please note that due to the current pandemic this activity will have an hybrid online/in-person format. Participants will have the possibility to attend in person in Bern but guest speakers living abroad might have to join on Zoom.
