This PhD day intends to cover the main aspects of conference planning, attendance, and conduct to help doctoral students and other researchers build and refine these skills and boost their confidence and networks. We will also reflect on the ways in which we can make these skills work for us and plot them into future career plans. The first part of the day will cover finding and choosing the right conferences, abstract writing, planning and delivering papers, crafting and asking conference questions, and networking. The second part of the day will include reflections and activities focused on how to use these same skills in, for example, networking to pursue job opportunities after academia or in researching and applying for jobs and being successful at the interview process. There will be interactive and practical workshop activities with tangible outputs.
