Summary of thesis

Using postcolonial theory, I am analysing transnational anglophone writers who published literature on modern-day Greece and the Greek identity. Using Homi K. Bhabha's theory of Hybridity and the Third Space, Benedict Anderson's theory on Imagined Communities, and Stuart Hall's theory on cultural representations, new insights into motivations behind European and North American visiting anglophone writers can determine to what extent these writers wished to connect with Greece and be acknowledged as transnational writers.
