Title

Historical Linguistics - Norse-derived terms in Middle English lexis.

Summary of thesis

I'm studying Norse-derived terms in the Middle English lexis of two Middle English poems written in Scandinavianised areas: Havelok the Dane (Lancashire) and Siege of Jerusalem (Yorkshire). From the latter, nine extant manuscripts have survived, half of them written in southern areas, which allows the study of dialectal variety and scribal choice.
