Detailed information about the course
Title | PhD Day |
Dates | 6 December |
Organizer(s) | Emma Depledge, University of Geneva Margaret Tudeau-Clayton, University of Neuchâtel |
Speakers | |
Description | The day will consist in two parts: in the morning a panel of recent ‘doctors’ will share what they think you should know (!) as well as responding to questions from you about any aspect of the experience of the process of obtaining a PhD in English Studies in Switzerland. Obviously they have their own ideas, but it would be good to have input in advance on those issues/questions you would like to be addressed in this session.
In the afternoon we will discuss important practical skills: how to produce good-looking cvs and write compelling letters of application; how to prepare for an interview and a trial lecture. I will send out (bogus (!)) job ads for you to apply for and your letters of application and cvs will be assessed and discussed by a panel of teachers who have experience on both sides of the job search procedure. |
